This month we want to highlight the growing threat of Scam Updates and Emails.

The only time you should be taking notice of “Updates” are when a message pops up on the bottom right hand corner of your screen when you log on. If you are on the Internet and a message pops up with “Click here to update your computers/drivers” etc. 9 times out of 10 this will be a fake message. Just close your Internet browser and re-open it. DO NOT click on the update link.

Email Scam. If you receive any emails that have a “click here to unsubscribe” and you haven’t subscribed to that newsletter or company then DO NOT click on “unsubscribe” as this will alert the trolls to the fact that your email address is “live” and you will be inundated with nuisance emails. Add the email address to “Junk / Block this Sender” and then Delete the email.

If you are unsure of any emails with a link in them just DELETE the email. This is especially true when you haven’t subscribed to them.

Please ensure that you Backup your computer on a regular basis so that if you are “infected” then at least you will have a recent backup of your information and files.
